Why Montione's?

My name is Mary Montione and I want to talk to you about my mother’s homemade Italian biscotti recipe and why I think you will agree they are the most delicious biscotti you will ever taste. My passion was to recreate the extraordinary taste experience of my Italian ancestors homemade biscotti cookies from my mother’s original recipe.

Our Italian biscotti dates back several hundred years to my Mother’s family bakery café in Foggia, Italy. Back then, our homemade recipe along with recipes of all our other gourmet Italian cookies were kept secret within the family. Our recipe became a national treasure in Italy and customers would leisurely enjoy dipping and dunking them. They were cherished by sailors on long sea journeys who would also enjoy dunking them in wine. Today, our customers still enjoy dipping them in coffee, tea, milk, wine or simply savor them by themselves because they are so easy to bite AND so flavorful.

Montione’s Bakery built a tradition by baking handmade gourmet Italian biscotti cookies from natural ingredients in over 20 traditional and New England flavors. We started by baking our traditional flavors in almond and chocolate. Then we expanded to New England flavors since I was now living in Massachusetts. I started from my home, then relocated to Norton, Massachusetts, then relocated once again to our current bakery in Plainville which was built specifically to match my family’s centuries old recipe.

Our bakery has been in operation for 20 years. We gained recognition including Best of Boston by Boston Magazine. Many people still refer to our biscoti as “those wonderful Italian cookies”, as well as ”those delicious gourmet cookies of Massachusetts". I am told over and over again that they remind them of “their own family recipes they enjoyed when growing up”.
